How to make a house with 3D printed floors
When you’re building a house, you might not think much of the process of printing it out.
However, it turns out that a simple 3D printer can produce a house in a couple of hours.
“I have a little 3D-printed house that I’ve been working on for about a year and a half,” the London house builder and 3D printing pioneer Kathleen Stern told Wired.
“I was hoping to get to this point with a 3D print, but there were a lot of hurdles to overcome.
I did have to learn how to 3Dprint the building blocks for it, but it was fun to work on.”
Spencer, who also runs a 3d printing company called Brickworks and is an engineer by training, explained that the process started off as a hobby, but she realised it could become a real business.
“The 3D model I used for my house, which I called ‘Spencers House’, is a very basic design with a few basic building blocks.
I thought, ‘I’m going to make something like this,'” she said.
Stones from the house were then 3Dprinted in a 3-D printer at Sparksforge, a 3DS Max machine shop in the UK.
The 3d printed floor is made up of a couple different layers, including a metal plate that’s coated with the plastic glue.
When the glue is dried, it forms a rough surface for the 3D layer to be printed on.
The print takes about five minutes, with a finished product being ready to be used.
In order to get the house printed, the bricks were cut out using a 3mm x 3mm standard sized printer and then sanded to make the printable surface.
The process took three hours, but the process was still enjoyable.
“I’d say it took about 10 hours for me to make all the bricks,” she said, adding that the finished product was a “pretty good house” and that it was “very nice to look at”.
Sperling, who is also a designer and software engineer by trade, added that the house was an “exciting and challenging challenge”.
“We were working on this house for about two years, and at the end of it we had a house that was very simple, and yet it was really beautiful.
We’ve been making houses for about three years now, and this is the first house that we’ve made in a three-dimensional way,” he said.
“We’ve built a lot more than one house, and we’re going to continue building houses.
I think that 3D Printing is a great way to build something that’s not very simple.
I hope that it’s something that people will want to build in the future.”
The house has been installed on the ground floor of the house, where it will house a bedroom and bathroom, while the bedrooms will be located in a separate area.
The 3D prints will be used to make walls and floors, and the flooring will be built from reclaimed materials and recycled plastic.
Kirsten is planning to install the house next to a house next door.
“It’s a very simple house, but if it’s going to take off it needs to be accessible to everyone, because otherwise it’s not going to be sustainable,” she told Wired.
