House of Horror movie opens in US and Canada, stars Jennifer Lawrence and Tom Hanks
Hollywood is finally getting its first Halloween movie that’s actually haunted, starring Jennifer Lawrence.
The $25 million House of Nightmare opens in select U.S. markets on Thursday and is based on the 1994 book by writer James Frey.
The movie was written by Frey, Lawrence, director Paul Feig and stars Hanks, Michael Stuhlbarg, Anna Kendrick, James Woods, and Mark Ruffalo.
The movie is the latest in a string of hits from Frey’s ghost-themed property, including the $50 million remake of House of Wax, which is set to open next year.
In January, Disney bought the rights to the Frey book, and it has since been adapted into several movies, including an adaptation of Frey’s novel House of Mirrors.
