Bizarre beach house in Ballymena house is on the market for €8.9m
Ballymacmurra Beach House is the latest example of a property that has been on the decline in the city since it was built in 1928.
It is the result of an attempt by the family who owned the house to convert it into a holiday home, but after some controversy it has now been sold for €9.9 million.
Owner Robert Kelly said the family was unable to sell it due to the cost of building the house.
“The cost of the house was around €8 million and we thought it was the right price for this property.”
But we were unable to do the deal with the buyer, and the price is now €9 million.
“Mr Kelly said he could not speculate on the value of the property, saying the buyer was the family’s “friends”.
He said the house has now sold for around €11 million.
Mr Kelly was contacted for comment by The Irish Sun.
More:A spokesperson for Ballymana city council said it had no further comment at this stage.
The family is still interested in purchasing the property.
